PhD Candidate in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics

A 3-year PhD position is available in the Research Group of Anthony Mathelier (Computational Biology & Gene Regulation). The group is recently recruited to NCMM and develops computational methods and tools to analyze the regulation of gene expression and the mechanisms by which it can be disrupted in human diseases such as cancer.

We seek an individual highly motivated by the development of computational models and tools dedicated to the analysis of high throughput sequencing data.We are looking for applicants excited about combining life sciences and computation to analyze gene expression regulation. The ideal candidate will  be stimulated by the development and application of computational methods for (1) improving the prediction of TFBSs; (2) predicting TF gene targets; or (3) prioritizing cis-regulatory variants dysregulating miRNA transcriptional regulation with downstream impact on the gene regulatory program in cancer.The successful candidate will be collaborative, independent, and should have experience in statistical / machine learning modeling and computer programming (mainly Python and/or R) dedicated to the analysis of large-scale genomics data.

The PhD candidate position will be placed as SKO 1017 (position code) with salary depending on qualifications within step 50-57 (NOK 430 500 – 483 700 per year). The University of Oslo has an agreement for all employees, aiming to secure rights to research results and intellectual property.
